Education, Not Representation
Education only
VA Claim Mentor provides self-paced education only. It does not provide individual claim review or representation, and results are not guaranteed. Free accredited assistance is available through a VSO.
That sentence appears throughout this site, and it is the most important thing on this page.
What that means in practice
The Guide teaches a method. The method is the same for every person who buys it. Nothing in it is built around you, your records, or your claim.
We do not:
Review your records, your symptoms, your evidence, or your decision letter
Prepare, complete, or fill out any VA form for you
Gather evidence for you or on your behalf
Write your personal statement, your lay statement, or your nexus letter
Submit or file anything for you
Represent you before the Department of Veterans Affairs, or hold any power of attorney
Advise you on whether your specific claim will succeed, what rating to expect, or which conditions to claim
We do: explain how the process works, show you how to organize your own history, and teach you what the people who decide your claim are actually looking at.
If you send us your records, your service documents, or your claim file, we will not review them, and we will ask you to take them back. That is not us being unhelpful. It is the line that keeps this business on the right side of federal law, and we hold it deliberately.
Not legal, medical, or financial advice — and not representation
Nothing in the Guide is legal advice, medical advice, or financial advice. Louis Schwartz is not your attorney, your doctor, or your representative. Using the Guide creates no attorney-client relationship, no representative relationship, and no fiduciary relationship of any kind.
Neither VA Claim Mentor nor Louis Schwartz is a VA-accredited claims agent, attorney, or Veterans Service Organization. Federal law (38 U.S.C. § 5901) reserves the preparation, presentation, and prosecution of VA claims on another person's behalf to people the VA has accredited. We do not do that work, and we are not accredited to do it.
If you need advice about your specific situation, get it from a VA-accredited representative, a VA-accredited attorney or agent, or your own doctor.
No affiliation with the Department of Veterans Affairs
VA Claim Mentor is a private business. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected with the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, or with any other United States government agency or department. "VA" in our name describes the subject we teach about, not a relationship.
Any reference to the VA, to VA forms, or to VA processes is descriptive. It does not imply any relationship with, approval by, or endorsement from the VA.
The official source for VA benefits information is va.gov. Rules and forms change, so confirm current requirements there before you file.
Free help exists
Accredited Veterans Service Organization representatives help veterans with claims at no charge. County veterans service officers do the same. You are entitled to that help whether or not you ever buy anything from us.
Learn the process yourself, and a representative's time goes further if you use one.
You can find an accredited representative through the VA's accreditation search at va.gov. You can use the Guide and an accredited representative together; neither replaces the other.
No guaranteed outcome
We do not guarantee any rating, approval, back-pay amount, monthly benefit, or timeline. Any story or example shown on this site, in writing or on video, is real, but it is not average, typical, or guaranteed. Outcomes depend on your own service history, your own evidence, and decisions made by the VA.
We do not publish success rates or approval rates, because we do not decide claims and cannot honestly measure what we do not control.
About the AI tools described in the Guide
Some sessions show you how to use a general-purpose AI assistant with your own writing and your own records. Those methods work only from what you give them. They do not add facts, they do not generate evidence, and they do not decide anything.
Do not enter your Social Security number, your full date of birth, your VA file number or claim number, or anyone else's personal information into any AI tool. If you choose to give an AI tool your own records, such as your medical records, your DD-214, or your decision letter, black out those numbers first and check the tool's settings so it does not keep your conversations or use them for training. The Guide shows this notice with every session that uses an AI method, and it is worth repeating here.
Any AI tool you use is a third party, operating under its own terms and its own privacy policy. We do not control it, we do not receive what you put into it, and we are not responsible for what it produces.
The law in this area is unsettled
Whether and how private companies may charge veterans for claims-related services is actively contested. State legislatures have gone in opposite directions, and federal litigation is ongoing.
We are telling you this because the honest position is that this is a live question, not a settled one. VA Claim Mentor's approach sits outside that fight: generic education, no individual review, and never a percentage of your back pay. But we are not going to describe unsettled law as settled in order to sound more reassuring.
